SCHOLAR

As a Positive Organizational Scholar, Dr. Sekerka examines what contributes to the best of human functioning. More specifically, she focuses on how

personal and collective strengths and virtues enable individuals and

communities to thrive. Her research has shown how organizations can benefit from positive approaches to instill change and development, and how strength can also be cultivated from the negative, potentially creating resiliency and the generation of additional capacity.

Her current research focuses on how cognition and emotion influence

ethical behavior in the workplace. To advance this particular area of study she explores what promotes awareness, desire, willingness, and the decision to engage in moral action.

The intent of Dr. Sekerka's scholarship is to help individuals learn how to

develop and manage healthy states that will support their moral decision-making and virtuous performance. Ultimately, her goal is to create a more integrated positive approach toward understanding and explaining human thriving in organizational life.
